| Our Family
| Our Family has a rich heritage dating back over 150 years. Begun as a family church for the local Georgia Marble workers, Cool Springs was founded in 1840. Since that time we have held fast to the Faith with conservative values and a belief in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Our family holds to these basic doctrines: - We believe there is one God, maker of heaven and earth and all living things.
- We believe that man was created in the image of God, but rebelled against God in the Garden of Eden; all people since that time have been born in sin, separated from God.
- We believe God's great love for mankind was demonstrated through His Son, Jesus, Who came to be the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all mankind, redeeming us to God.
- We believe that Jesus is God's only Son, born of the virgin Mary, living a perfectly sinless life, dying on the cross for our sins, rising from the dead on the third day, and ascending back to the right hand of God.
- We believe that personal, individual faith in Jesus Christ is the only way to be restored to God.
- We believe that Jesus is soon coming back to take His Church to heaven and to establish His kingdom on earth.
- We believe that God's forgiveness is offered to anyone who will receive it.
Most of all we want you to know Who God is and what He has done for you. God loves you very much, just as He loves everyone very much. He loves you so much that He knows how many hairs are on your head. He knows everything that troubles you and He wants to help you through them. But more than that, He loves you so much that He became a person just like you so that He could bring us back to God.
You see, even though God loves us, there are things that He cannot sit back and ignore about us. When He first created man and woman, He created them perfect and walked with them and talked with them face-to-face. But they rebelled against Him and everyone since then has that same heart of rebellion. There's nothing we can do, we're just born with it. Thousands of years ago, God gave a set of rules which we call the Ten Commandments. The strange thing is He didn't give us these rules to provide a list of things to do to make God happy. He gave them so that we could see that it is impossible for us to keep all ten commandments. In other words, these laws were not given as a door to God, but were given as a mirror to ourselves.
Then, two thousand years ago, God became a man in the form of a baby. At the age of thirty, this man, Jesus, began to teach about God and to demonstrate God's love for mankind through serving, teaching, and healing people, even raising some from the dead! His purpose, however was not just to teach and heal, but He was to be the sacrifice. All of us, no matter how good we think we are, have sinned against God. God says the punishment for sin is death. Jesus came to be a sacrifice for everyone's sin, including yours. He was put to death on the cross, but was raised to life on the third day after His death, giving evidence that He is God.
What does that mean for you? How can you get credit for His sacrifice? First, you have to admit that you are a sinner, separated from God by your rebellion (sin). You also have to acknowledge that Jesus is the Son of God, who has paid the penalty for your sins. And you have to confess that Jesus is the only way to a relationship with God and you want to receive His free gift, and turn your life over to Him so He can lead you.
We would love to talk to you more. If you think you would like to receive God's free gift, or if you have any questions about giving your heart to Christ, we want to talk to you about them. We don't want to write a prayer and post it on our site for you to repeat. We want to help you be sure about your decision. So please call us or e-mail us right now so we can contact you and pray with you about your decision.
